How Many Bodyguards Do I Need?
More officers is not automatically better protection. Beyond a point it becomes conspicuous, expensive and harder to coordinate.
One officer
Suitable for most low-profile assignments: a meeting, a hearing, a filming day in a manageable location, an evening out. One officer can protect a single client who is not attracting crowds and who is not moving through hostile environments.
Two or more
A second officer is usually justified when there is a vehicle to manage, a crowd to anticipate, more than one person to protect, or a venue where someone needs to be in position ahead of the client.
- Public appearances with an audience
- Any assignment with a dedicated security driver
- Protecting a couple or family who may separate
- Venues requiring advance checks
- Extended hours requiring relief
Teams
Full teams are for high-exposure events, continuous residential cover and complex travel. At that point the structure matters more than the headcount: someone plans, someone leads, someone drives, and handovers are documented.
